Ghana’s Sheriff “One Time” Quaye is the new World Boxing Organization(WBO) African Lightweight Champion after puting up a spectacular show of superiority to defeat Tanzanian Emmanuel Amos in Accra on Friday night.

The former Ghanaian national lightweight champion inflicted a 3rd round knock-out on the highly-rated Tanzanian to annex his first ever international title in front of a jubilant crowed at the Royal Dede Golden Beach Resort and Hotel in Korle Gonna, Accra.

The highly-rated lightweight fighter took control of the bout from the opening round and looked in great shape as he entertained the crowed with his boxing skills.

It didn’t take long for Quaye to go hard at his opponent, who could not stand on his feet after the Ghanaian landed a powerful body shot in the third round to send him to the canvas for a technical knockout victory.

The victory brings the young boxer a step closer to realising his dream of climbing up the WBO rankings in order to have a shot at the globally acclaimed lightweight titles in the future.
