… Hopes to bounce back to continue boxing promotion
Michael Nii Ayitey Okai aka Ayitey Powers, a boxing promoter who was arrested following a death threat on Director General of the National Sports Authority, Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has been discharged on Tuesday September 2, 2026 after spending some days in custody.
Following his discharge by the Dansoman Circuit Court, the former Ghanaian boxer Ayitey Powers said he will no longer speak publicly on the money issue he claims was owed him for almost a year, after his promotion was cancelled due to a halt on boxing activities after the death of Ernest Akushey popularly known as Bahubali.
Ayitey Powers expressed gratitude to God, apologised to every he has wronged in a way and thanked several individuals for their support, including President John Dramani Mahama, Kevin Taylor, Ibrahim Mahama and Yaw Ampofo Ankrah others.
He begged Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Director-General of the National Sports Authority, for forgiveness, saying he did not intend to hurt him.
The well travelled boxer expressed confidence in the support of those around him and he looked forward to continuing his work with Ayitey Powers Boxing Promotion.
He organised ‘The Battle Of The Beasts’ at the Bukom Boxing Arena and a community show at Winneba.
