Derrick ‘Show Love’ Quaye set to face Patrick ‘Mallet’ Okine on Christmas Day.

Derrick ‘Show Love’ Quaye and Patrick ‘Mallet’ Okine have finalised their fight contracts for a bout scheduled for December 25th at the Bukom Boxing Arena, promoted by Ayitey Powers Promotion.

The two boxers signed the contract in front of fans and promoter Ayitey Powers over the weekend.

The fight was originally scheduled for July under a different promoter, but unfortunately did not materialise.

Quaye is coming off the biggest fight of his career, which also happened to be his European debut.

Although there were high hopes for the 25-year-old, he was defeated by Tomislav Vukomanovic via 4th round TKO in a fight for the WBC International Silver Super Lightweight title.

Before the loss, Quaye was undefeated in 10 fights and had eight knockouts.

His opponent, Patrick Okine, is a wily veteran of boxing. Beginning his career in 2007, Okine has had a storied career with 22 wins, 12 losses and 2 draws.

His best performance, perhaps, is his win over Jean Amuzu in 2010 which earned him the WBA Pan African Featherweight title.

‘Mallet’ has also been involved in a number of fights in the USA and has faced some tough opponents such as former IBO lightweight champion Emmanuel Tagoe, Antonio Williams and Jeremia Nakathila.

Okine, now 35 years old, may not have the most decorated record, but his experience would be his advantage come fight night against the younger and more aggressive Derrick Quaye.
