Nii Adjor 1 urges Black Bombers to keep on striving for the best as they face Metro Detroit Golden Gloves

Vice President of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF), Nii Gonti Adjor 1 (Atukpia Mantse) aka Nii Adama Addy has urged the national team, Black Bombers to give off their best in the up coming international encounter with the Metro Detroit Golden Gloves team on Saturday evening, October 10, 2026 at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

Speaking at a media encounter at Gbese, he expressed that the government and Ministry of Sports and Recreation does not invest in the boxers yet every one expects them to excel at international competition.

He noted that despite all the neglect, the local boxing gyms and e few individuals in Accra have been able to hold the fort and supported the welfare of the boxers and coaches.

He expressed that government and the Ministry as well as National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and the Ghana Sports Fund must all support Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation to be able to work with the various clubs, coaches and boxers to produce boxers who can win gold medals.

He stressed that funding travels of national team to African or Olympuc Games is not supporting the sport as it goes beyond the national team and goes to the foundation and grassroots.

He commended the coaches who have been privately handling the boxers – The national teams comprise the Black Rockets (Youth team) and Black Hitters (Female team).

Team Ghana, Black Bombers hosts the Metro Detroit Golden Gloves team on Saturday and it it going to be full of fireworks.

Nii Adjor 1 said the boxers have motivated themselves as they will fight for the flag and people of Ghana in the 10 bouts bill.

“We are well prepared with our new coaches; Akai Nettey and Charles Quartey and the boys are in high spirits because they feel good to fight different opponents from different places” he said.
