Boxers came from Attoh Quarshie, Bronx, Sonia, Discipline, Wisdom, Bukom, Jamestown The Gym and Seconds Out and Fit Square gyms came out in numbers to run in the 2026 Tampico Accra Inter City Marathon.
Officials of Tampico and Mist Water who spoke to Yours Truly said they were overwhelmed by the people who came to run and promised to put in more in subsequent events.
Coach Wisdom Dodoo said the marathon is good training for boxers and hopes that they will win the next edition.
The 2026 Tampico Accra Inter City Marathon attracted a lot of boxers who competed for fitness but some have promised to go for the prize next time. Professional boxer Holy Dorgbetor aka ‘The Jaw Breaker’ of The Gym placed 37th in the 21km race.

Portia Annaba of the Ghana Police Service and Ishmael Arthur of the Ghana Army were the big winners at the 2026 Tampco Accra Inter City men’s and women’s 21km races respectively.
The event which is the fourth edition took place in Accra started and ended at the Trust Sports Emporium which houses the Bukom Boxing Arena with over 2,500 athletes taking part in the mass races.
There were competitions in the wheelchair 21km, men and women 5km as well as 5km wheelchair races for men and women, while skaters displayed their skills on the streets and after the race.

Arthur, who is a recurrent marathon winner, dominated the field to win the men’s race ahead of Atia Quagoe and Ebenezer Martey who finished second and third respectively.
The winners were presented special gold medals plus souvenirs from the sponsors.
Atia and Martey, took home silver and bronze medals as we as GH¢10,000 and GH¢5,000 respectively.
In the women’s 21km Alide Colet and Christiana Mumuni placed second and third to get GH¢8,000 and GH¢5,000 as well as special silver and bronze medals.
Vivien Nartey, won the women’s 5km race and took home GH¢3,000, a gold medal and souvenirs from the sponsors.
Winner Tualong and Ayishatu Salifu, placed second and third. They took home GH¢2,000 and aGH¢1,500 respectively plus souvenirs and a silver and bronze medals.
In the men’s 5km race, Daniel Abotsi won ahead of Peter Doste and Isaac Mensah.
Mohammed Fadiga took first position in the men’s 5km wheelchair race with Richard Essel and Bismark Adjei placing second and third..
Samuela Owusu Ansah, won the women’s race ahead of Safia Frukan and Ernestina Afriyie.
Emmanuel Kwaku Gyasi beat veteran Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe to win the competitive wheelchair 21km races.

All finishers of the races were awarded with medals, and the organisers and sponsors expressed satisfaction with the attendance and results. The oldest and youngest fastest finishers were also rewarded.
The Tampico Accra Inter City Marathon is organized by Medivents Consult.
