Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye Hints On a Possible Ashie vs Quaye Rematch As he Talks about The Event

“My Independence Day bout has been in works for over two years now.” Box Office Sports Promotions CEO, Mr. Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye revealed.

On 6th March, 2022, George ‘Red Tiger’ Ashie scored an 8th round KO win against Robert ‘Stopper’ Quaye at the Bukom Boxing Arena. This bout has been the talk of town as it was the first time post COVID-19 pandemic where the Arena was filled completely by boxing fans to watch a bout.

The spectacular event was preceded by 2 public appearances (a new addition to Ghana Boxing) held at Bukom and Chorkor where boxing fans had a chance to interact with fighters. This also helped build momentum for fighters as they got to size up their opponent.

The bankroller of Box Office Promotions, Mr. Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye who doubles as the president of Ghana Boxing Promoters Association has over the years staged big bouts in Ghana, with each one topping the former.

According to Mr. Alex Ntiamoah, boxing lovers have been calling for this fight for some time now and all he did was to give the fans their wish. The call for the fight between George Ashie and Robert Quaye began 2 years ago, however it was not the right time. Two years ago, Robert was just coming out of a break and George was also working on himself.

Year 2020 was the pandemic year and the impact on the sport would have not been felt as we have it currently due to government regulations and feel of catching COVID-19.

The Ashie vs Quaye bout ended with a round 8 knockout win for Ashie who predicted it when he spoke to Boxing Ghana.

The top promoter, Mr. Alex Ntiamoah has revealed to BoxinGhana.com that there will be a rematch in the near future. However, both boxers will have to better themselves so that whoever wins the next fight can be positioned for a world title shot.

Alex, who promoted the Banku vs Powers as well as Banku vs Bastie bouts explained that, the main problem he faced going into this bout (Ashie vs Quaye) was satisfying the budget.

“Bringing two local favorites to clash always require heavy security and huge financial investment” he revealed.

He is grateful to distributors of Boxer Bikes for their support and his team who made it work. Mr. Ntiamoah is calling on various companies to support promoters to aid put up great fights.

Both boxers have resumed training. George Ashie is currently meeting with fans and supporters after his win and Robert has been spotted in a video apologizing to fans for his performance.

In the coming years, Mr. Ntiamoah is planning to stage some Big name fights in Northern part of the country and the Ashanti Region as well.
