Jamestown Boxing Club spiced Individual Boxing Championship With Quality Performance – Coach Nuhu
Coach Nuhu Nortey Omaboe, assistant trainer at the Jamestown Boxing Club has expressed that boxers who train at their gym gain something special, and their performance is splendid.
Speaking on The Big Fight Night on Omashi TV last Friday, he noted that Jamestown is a young club but produces high quality boxing, and it can be seen from their display in the ring..
He said the recent 2026 National Individual Boxing Championship has been very good, exciting and it has exposed the good and potential best boxers who can represent the nation in international competitions.
Jamestown Gym registered six boxers for the championships and three are in the finals.
He named their gold medal prospects as Middleweight Desmond Pappoe, Super Heavyweight Daniel Plange and the sensational showboy of Ghana Boxing Samuel Plange.
He said Samuel Plange who stole the show at the Championship on the first day was robbed in the second day results which even created a misunderstanding among the fans.
Senior Coach Randy Amugi hinted that they protested the result and if was declared in their favour.
He apologised to whatever mayhem caused by a section of the fans and hoped for free and fair officiating.
He said some unfortunate verdicts can affect young boxers when they have done their best only to be robbed by unfair judgement.
The pupil of Prince De Henry Educational Complex, Samuel Plange said he is very happy and hopes to thrill his fans at the final. His favourite boxer is Emmanuel Tagoe aka ‘Game Boy’, a former world champion.
His uncle Daniel Plange aka ‘Fat Joe’ who represented Ghana at the 2023 African Games also promised to take the gold in his division when he takes on Isaac Asiedu of Charles Quartey Foundation. He started serious boxing in 2019 and wants to achieve something great at the amateur level.
He disclosed that he nearly quit amateur boxing, but came back on a personal reason.
The final is on February 27 at the Bukom Boxing Arena, and boxing fans are going to enjoy themselves..
On the professional front, National Lightweight Champion, Africanus Neequaye is the face of Jamestown Boxing Club; he has potential to become a world champion with good management. The club is always grateful to Micheal Amoo-Bediako and Streetwise Boxing Management.
