Ghana’s Theophilus Nii Kpakpo ‘Lopez’ Allotey kept alive the hopes and aspirations of Ghanaians for a world title after he dominated outclassed and defeated Facundo David Garcia of Argentina last Saturday September 19 at the Bukom Boxing Arena in the WBA Super Flyweight eliminator.
All the three judges scored the bout 120-107 in favour of Allotey.
Backed by the 4,000 fans in the Arena, Allotey easily put Garcia on the canvas in round one to earn the referee’s count and to inform boxing fans what they should expect on the Osagyefo Fight Night.
After round one, Garcia became cautious and careful, though he was doing well, Allotey looked the better with accurate punches and immaculate jabs, hooks and upper cuts.
Indeed the atmosphere was fantastic as fans behaved well, giving Obra Sports Promotions a break for more fights.
Hon. Kofi Adams who witnessed the world title eliminator commended the fans and informed that plans are advanced to build a bigger and roofed arena in the near future. He congratulated Allotey for his stupendous performance and prayed that his dreams may come to pass.
Coach Dr. Ofori Asare who was at the red corner of Allotey was very happy for the victory and assured Ghanaians that very soon they will get another world champion. He was supported by Coaches Vincent Akai Nettey and Elvis Robertson for the mission.
He appealed for more sponsorship from companies for the team to prepare adequately for the next bout.
Allotey who is now undefeated in 15 fights holds the WBO Africa Super Flyweight title as well as the WBA Africa, UBO Africa and the Ghana national titles.
He represented Ghana at the amateur level and was the only boxer who got a medal during the qualifiers for the Paris Olympic Games. In 2024, he won a medal at the African Games.

David Amenuveve from the ARS defeated Eric Mensah at the Osagyefo Fight Night, just like Inusah from the Ghana Army who also won in round two.
Joseph Antwi aka ‘Junior Bazooka’ also knocked out Felix Mankattah despite suffering a hand injury.
In the main undercard, Micheal Decardi Nelson of Akotoku Academy and Jerry Klutei Robertson of Sea View Gym thrilled fans as their bout ended in a draw
Former WBA Welterweight Champion, lke Bazooka Quartey was decorated with an award (citation) by the World Boxing Association (WBA).
Present at the event was Sharaf Mahama, son of President John Dramani Mahama who is promotions manager of Allotey and Takyi.
The two contestants for the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) presidency, Rabbon Dodoo and Ivan Bruce Cudjoe also witnessed the show.
Former GBA President Peter Zwennes was there to show his support, likewise Benard Quartey of the GBA. According to the promoters, Obra Sports, part of the gate proceeds will go to the national boxing teams, the Black Bombers and Black Rockets.
