The sport of boxing won’t be completed if Matchmakers are left out. Boxing Matchmakers carefully assess what skills the fighter has and where their strengths lie and then select the opponents who can challenge them in other areas. This enables them to do perfect match-ups for exciting bouts.

Ghana has the likes of Mubarak Yusif Nanor, Laud Stephen Amihere, Solomon Otoo Lartey, Abdul Rasheed Williams, etc. as Matchmakers pairing up exciting fighters to entertain boxing fans in Ghana and across the globe.

Sarah Lotus Asare, a well experienced personality in the sport of boxing held the matchmaking mantle as first Ghanaian female boxing matchmaker last year, pairing up fighters in Wisdom Boxing Promotions’ maiden event on August 26, 2023.

Boxing Ghana had an exclusive interview with Sarah Lotus Asare, who shared with us about herself and her passion for the sport:

“I was born in Jamestown and I have been following the sport of boxing for a while; that has been my interest.

“I want to be part of the boxing industry to show Ghana and the world that we can do boxing differently in a positive way”.

“My achievements in boxing is that I have been able to market boxing to different audience, bring new eyes to the sport and given boxers an opportunity to shine virtually with the help of Esports Ghana” she disclosed.

“I am proud that I’m the first female boxing matchmaker but I wish there will be more women involved. I am the administrator for Wisdom Boxing Gym and the matchmaker for the promotional aspect.”

Sarah Asare also revealed her personal goals in the sport of boxing in the near future

“In the next five years, my goal is to be recognized globally as a Sports Leader, and cement my self as the face of Ghana Boxing.”
