Emmanuel ‘Gameboy’ Tagoe to face undefeated boxer Ernesto Mercado

Former IBO lightweight champion Emmanuel ‘Gameboy’ Tagoe (34-2, 16 KOs) returns to the ring to face undefeated boxer Ernesto Mercado (19-0, 18 KOs) on the 15th of August.

Tagoe will be fighting for the first time in eleven months after his unanimous decision victory over Modibo Keita in Agust last year.

At 37 years, the fight will be a major test for Tagoe as he faces a younger 24-year-old Mercado.

Mercado has built an impressive record by facing experienced boxers through out his relatively young career.

He is currently ranked fourth and fifth in the WBO and IBF respectively and will be looking for a second win in 2026 after a second round knockout of Juan Carlos Burgos in June to defend the WBO International super lightweight title.

The event put together by Salita Promotions will take place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, USA on the same night Claressa Shields (18-0) is set face unified WBA and WBC middleweight world champion Kaye Scott (5-1-1) for a chance to claim the titles she once held.
