The Salafest Boxing Event held in Accra, precisely at Kawukudi last Saturday, April 13, saw Haruna “Thunder” Mohammed and George Amuzu contest for the National Cruiserweight title.

Haruna Mohammed ruthlessly battered George Amuzu to stop him in the 1st round; showing no mercy at all to become the new National Cruiserweight champion.

After winning the title, he said

“I give thanks to the Almighty for everything He is doing . Actually, winning the title means a lot to me because that’s what is going to be the stepping stone to where I wanna get to. I will also sit down with my team to plan on what to come out next.”

Haruna also opened up on his plans for the next few years

“In the next 5 years, I want the whole world to see me as a great world champion because I believe having a great team & management as well, we surely will get there. So Ghana should watch out for Team Thunder.”

“George Amuzu, who was my opponent, is also a good fighter and would hope he keeps his head up. This is boxing; you either win, loose, or draw, but in every way, you need to be focused and still keep going.”

“I train at Wisdom Boxing Gym, which is also known to be one of the best boxing gyms in Ghana with great coaches and world champions.”
