PRESS RELEASE: GILBERT MITCH WOOLLAMS HAS BEEN NAMED THE VICE PRESIDENT OF WABA RESPONSIBLE FOR WABA AFRICA
GHANAIAN Mr. Gilbert Mitch Woollams (third from the right), who was recently appointed by the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) Interim Management Committee (IMC) as the coordinator for boxing in the greater Volta region, has further enhanced his credentials.
The Board of Directors of WABA, during its online meeting, has endorsed the recommendation for Gilbert Mitch Woollams to join the Board of Directors and subsequently assume the role of Vice President of WABA, overseeing the WABA AFRICA, with its head office now located in the Republic of Ghana.
This appointment supersedes all prior appointments in any African countries and zones, as they will now report to the new WABA Vice President for the African region, Gilbert Mitch Woollams.
Woollams has been deeply involved in the sport of boxing for an extended period. In addition to his new responsibilities, he serves as the Chairperson of Aborigine Boxing Promotion Ltd and Aborigine Beach Resort Club, along with several other business ventures. He is now expected to step back from the daily operations of Aborigine Boxing Promotion as mandated by WABA’s rules and regulations governing the organization.
His unwavering passion and dedication to boxing have established him as a pivotal figure in Ghana, playing a crucial role in the sport’s development and honoring its rich heritage. This commitment not only elevates the sport but also inspires future generations of athletes in the country.
