Boxing Ghana can exclusively confirm that Ghana’s welterweight contender, Frederick Lawson aka ‘General Okumka’ has been suspended indefinitely by the Pensylvania Athletic Commission and our checks with boxrec confirms it.

According to a reliable source this is as a result of the boxer’s actions and inactions as well as medical reasons which has resulted to the body extending it’s high handed precautionary measure on the New York based Ghanaian athlete who made his professional pugilism debut eight years ago under the tutelage of experienced trainer and now the assistant coach to the Ghana national boxing team the ‘Black Bombers’ Mr. Lartekwei Lartey, of the Fit Square Gymnasium at Kokomlemle.

Frederick Lawson recently signed onto Top Rank Promotions but a shocking defeat to Juan Ruiz in what was initially supposed to have been a warm-up fight silenced his otherwise promising career into a nose dive.

This news comes as another setback that Lawson must overcome in his boxing career which has been engulfed with some unfortunate challenges.

Lawson, previously under Evander Holyfield’s Real Deal Sports and Entertainment before a mega promotional deal with Top Rank but has struggled to attain the exploits that got him into the semi finals of the annual Jose Sulaiman World Invitational tourney which got defunct  because of visa related issues when the Jamestown native was scheduled to fight South Africa’s Cris Van Heerden, managed by boxing guru Peter Kahn.

BoxingGhana is set to be furnished with further and better particulars on this on-going story. Keep reading.
