GABA announces a completion of their 2021 calendar and call for support for 2022.

The Greater Accra Boxing Association regional Tournament yesterday was held at the City Engineers which was originally planned to take place at the Bukom Park. The 10 card bout and 3 juveniles  bout was memorable, though marked by some few technology challenges and misconduct.

Denfu from the Beach Boxing Gym won by split point decision (2: 1), the first bout after a contendous battle against Haruna Mohammed of Wisdom Boxing Gym.

The second contest between Rasheed Ampam of Akotoku Boxing Academy and Patrick Kodjoe (Wisdom Boxing Gym) was stopped by the Referee when Ampam proved too strong for Kodjoe.

Charles Tetteh (PANIS) won bout number 3 against Samuel Nii Quaye of The Gym.

Prince Amarkwei  retired in round 2 while fellow Gym member Joseph Commey from the Black Panthers Boxing Foundation takes the win.

The flyweight contest between Israel Thompson (The Gym) and Theophilus Amarkwei (Black Panthers) was declared no contest after some misconduct by both athletes.

Joseph Antwi from Wisdom Boxing Gym qualified for first place after no opponent qualified for the Super Heavyweight class.

Evans Owura, Jerry Robertson and Bernard won their respective contests against Adnan Mohammed Sani (The Gym), Abdul Aziz Seidu (Akotoku Academy), and Abdul Aziz Seidu (Akotoku Academy) respectively.

The chair of GABA, Mr. Bennie Johnson expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who have supported the Association this year and call for more support in 2022.

Mr. Alex Ntiamoah Boakye, the General Secretary of GABA recapped the activities GABA have recorded; an unprecedented 10 Boxing events for this year featuring 356 boxers and coaches, and 18 Boxing clubs, boxing bouts for Juveniles, Youth, Girls Box, Novice and Elites, as well as four (4) seminars from the region.

He indicated that 2022 will be a better year where Tournaments held this year will be repeated but improved and better.

He also noted that all the boxers who qualified to the final, picking gold medals and silver certificates will receive letters and a call up to the Regional team.
