Frederick Lawson has been on the hard road to redemption after a debacle upset against Juan Ruiz. The Ghanaian registered a unanimous decision victory over Carlos Winston Velasquez in his last fight and has set himself up for a major comeback.

Boxing Ghana’s Sammy Ofosuhene who is in the United States has been on the lookout, scouting the progression of arguably one of Ghana’s finest welterweight pugilist and has filed this report.

In wake of his defeat to Juan Ruiz, a hailstorm of criticism that was unleashed on him, with some detractors even questioning his credentials, Freddy Lawson seems to have weathered away the storm and executed his game-plan perfectly.

Indeed, the Jamestown native is practically a new man with such an admirable work ethics. He trains very hard and looks like a man on a mission with so my desire and passion into his craft. In fact ‘Freddy’ now is a delight to watch after watching at first hand some of his traning sessions.

With a record, 30 bouts, translated to 146 rounds, KOs ratio of 70% in two defeats, the former sparring partner of Manny Pacquiao is gradually returning to shape like a new person altogether. It’s more like a rebirth.

The self styled ‘General Okunka’ is ready to relaunch a comeback in the welterweight division. And yes, he’s a great asset to the division.

A lot of positive stuffs are happening for that young man, after nipping in the bud, his off the ring personal issues and is now very married.

The former International Boxing Federation (IBF) International welterweight titlist is now a young man in his bliss.

Lawson is a personification of young male bravado, never allowed his injury to get in his way or make excuses and still remains one of the most electrifying Ghanaian world title prospects.

One of the mistakes we make most consistently in assessing matchups is interpreting behavior, examining history, running it through our personal filtration system, and assuming that our point of view is the standard, but it may not be the fact.

Truth be told, Lawson is putting together a master plan – he’s in a lab right now, with his science glasses on, studying and working tirelessly with the support from his better half to relaunch career and stake a claim in the welterweight division.

Competition in the welterweight division is so fierce, even a minor diminishment in timing and other physical abilities can spell the difference between victory and defeat.

“I’m now ready for the task ahead better than ever…Just watch me” He quipped from a distance.
