Sheriff Quaye steps in on short notice to against Jerry Lartey for WBA Africa title
Sheriff Quaye is set to challenge WBA Africa lightweight champion Jerry Larety at the Bukom
Boxing Arena on April 10th. Quaye is stepping in as a late replacement for Ollie Duffy, who had to withdraw from the fight.
In his prime, Sheriff Quaye (25-3-1, 17 KOs) was a national and WBO Africa lightweight
champion, and was considered one of the country’s top lightweights.
Despite being only 30, Quaye has remained relatively inactive, competing in only four fights since 2022.
Jerry Lartey (8-0-1, 5 KOs), is currently one of the best lightweight boxers in Africa. He won his
WBA title last year in a hard-fought contest against an undefeated Jesse Brandon from the UK.
The fight will pit the current lightweight champion against a former champion for supremacy and a shiny WBA belt.
Also, undefeated Theophilus Allotey (13-0, 10 KOs) will headline the Legacy Rise boxing card, where he will face Namibian Jonas Erastus (10-1, 2 KOs) for the WBA Africa super flyweight title.
