Samuel Quaye Captures The National Super Lightweight Title On Twinstars’ Card

On the maiden promotional event of the nouveau outfit; Twinstars Boxing Promotions, Samuel Quaye put up a solid display. The young lad – born and bred in Jamestown, Accra easily dispatched hard-hitting brawler Richard Amenfu with a third round TKO to capture the vacant National Super Lightweight Championship.

 

The bout which took place at the SSNIT Forecourt, Weija saw Amenfu getting a quick start; throwing wild haymakers in the opening rounds probably to unsettle and scare his younger opponent. But Quaye, who is nicknamed “No Chance ” weathered the early storm and established dominance, ending the encounter in the third round.

 

Quaye, who now improves to 8-1 with 6 knockouts, expressed appreciation to his management and trainers. He promised to rise to the occasion whenever presented with an opportunity.

 

Promoter, Mr. Ahmed Davis had to surmount a litany of hurdles before putting up such a delectable event.

 

In the main undercard of the night, Samuel Martei Laryea outlasted Vandorf Okrah in a 10 round Super Bantamweight clash.

 

In what was a vacillating affair: both boxers fought tooth and nail; giving it their best shot, but Laryea’s conditioning and endurance proved crucial in a hard-fought battle. The fight was stopped in round nine after Okrah suffered sustained onslaught. His camp later protested the contractual terms of the fight and demanded a rematch .

 

In other bouts on the night, Daniel Otoo decisioned Joseph Sackey, John Quaye stopped Hope Mawuli, Jerry Klutei Robertson won over Raphael Ankrah with Abigail Quartey winning against Lydia Nettey.

 

Twinstars Promotions CEO Mr. Ahmed Davis thanked patrons and promised more exciting shows this year.
