PREVIEW:
“There is the tide in the affairs if men which when taken at the floods leads onto fortune” – This great quote will surely manifest in the upcoming WBO Superfeatherweight cliff hanger between Ghana based Nigerian pugilist, “sensational” Oluwaseun Wahab and silky South African, Anthony Moloisane at the Bukom Boxing Arena come July 10th.

This bout promises to be a livelier edition especially being promoted by ACE Power Promotions on a drought striken climate like this.

Both boxers are decorated in their own edifices and perhaps would want to showcase what they’ve got up their sleeves in this very meet.

With the thematic apperception on the bill “WAR ZONE”, it is an apparent perceive that the tango will surely live up to the billing.

I have, as usual taken sufficient time and visual study on both boxers and ready to dissect the possible outcomes and equations that may arise from this hanger.

ANALYSIS:

OLUWASEUN WAHAB

Joshua Oluwaseun Wahab and Coach Charles Quartey

Quite frankly I have been clandestinely impressed with the Ghana based Nigerian journeyman – Sensational Oluwaseun Wahab.

A few bout of his has been qualitative enough to be tagged a “credible boxer” amongst the lot.

Scanning through his cumulative rope records, it might look a bit local on the surface but honestly he has harvested some great fights in his strides.

On September 2019, he dismissed off fellow compatriot, Friday Felix with ease.

On May 10th 2018, the “sensational” Nigerian pugilist pulled up a sterling performance to see off tough nickled Ghanaian Bright Ayala (14-0-0) in their highly anticipated Pan African Superfeatherweight Title showdown with referee Roger Barnor in the middle.

Credit goes to Ayala for that tremendous heart and stamina he exhibited during that fight. The tenth round especially cementing that final brawler and exposing the witty Nigerian on some occasions.

On 23rd July 2016, Wahab dominated and inflicted an impressive TKO pill on Emmanuel Allotey in the 7th round and had a repeated version of a similar victory on the 7th of March 2021. A beauty of a fight it was with the Nigerian exhibiting some confused flurries which finally ended the final fued of a frenetic finish of the duo.

Perhaps his victory over Tanzanian, “Peche boy”- Issa Nampepeche (31- 11-6- 14Kos) might add some respect to his resume. Remember, the latter had a daring challenge at Australia’s George Kambosis but lost it out.

Oluwasuen Wahab is really “sensational” in the first two rounds. He has least interest in the toe to toe stance – but rather believes in the jabbing philosophy.

The Ghana based Nigerian has quick movements in the ring and looks very serious in every step taken. The power and persistent speed of his jabs needs to manifest on July 10th.

ANTHONY MOLOISANE

Anthony MOLOISANE

I have gotten the chance to watch a couple of fights on the ambitious South African.

I must confess he is never a threat to the Nigerian.

He debuted in 2015 and from his ring exploits and the boxers he has engaged, I stand to confirm he is in for an away game of a sort. For sure.

The Free State Southpaw looks dominant in height and uses his right hand most often than not in every round.

He’s got the stamina though but that persistent backpedaling on his part is what he appears to be negatively oblivious of.

Moloisane is not a power puncher and his ring utilization is less intimidating. Occasional flashes of body shots at the slightest opportunity is a trademark. Fact.

His 8 rounder against Kutlowano Ogaketse two years ago needs to be revisited. Moloisane had to run round the inner perimeter of the ring the entire duration of the bout. The diminutive Kutlowano shook his targets a couple of times with aggression and persistent attacks.

In May, 2019, Moloisane explored the waters of Russia’s when he fought Ravshambeli Umurzaqov. Though the Free State trialist won, he was the least impressive.

Honestly, his drawn bout against fellow native Singange drew ample suspicion about that fight. Singange was highly disappointed but had to accept the decision of the judges.

In a recent interview on his upcoming fight with the “sensational” Joshua Wahab, Moloisane was labially sure of a second round knockout.

“I am super super mentally fit. I am going there to bring what belongs to me to South Africa”.

“He can move and I can move. They don’t give him pressure. That’s what I saw. The fight won’t get pass the third round. I promise”.

These were the verbal aesthetics of the Free State Southpaw which he hinted some few weeks ago ahead of the July 10th cluster.

The WBO African version of the belt looks spicy now. But the tactical disposition of these two warriors would simmer on July 10th.

STRATEGY
Oluwaseun Wahab needs to impound calculated jabs that could have a telling effect on his opponent. He needs to follow up and counter punch in a lightning process as the South African is bound to lose focus on such flurries and would readily embrace any object on its way.

The Streetwise signee should extinguish any fantasy knockout plan on his mind and keep his steady jabs in accumulation. This is very key as a knockout planner might just not materialize.

Homesoil advantage should be a motivator for the host. The arena’s pomp and deafening ambience will linger- we’ve seen that before when the Royal Storm Isaac Dogboe flattened Caesar Juarez at the same compound.

It would be an all night jab from Anthony Moloisane. The agility of Oluwaseun Wahab must come to play here. But this denotes a lot of stamina work.

PREDICTIONS
The Bukom Boxing Arena is set to glitter with electric action. The South African community are relishing to watch the match live wherever it would be.

ACE Power Promotions would lit the lick out of the Emporium to see the night chants.

The prediction pendulum is swinging in favour of the host- Joshua “sensational” Wahab.

Wahab needs to amass more points on the judges scorecards midway into the fight. He should eschew any idea of going for a knockout and fight outside his steps to avoid any body punch in a flash. Key.

The fight travels the distance in a unanimous consent on the judges scorecards in favour of the Ghana based Nigerian pugilist.

Moloisane says “even if it takes him to kill himself in the ring, he is prepared, and that he will not leave the decision to the judges”.

Fight night beckons. What appears to be a comfort zone for both boxers will surely manifest in the “WAR ZONE”.
