Boxing fans came out in their numbers to support their favorite prospects at the 2022 Novice event. The program was organised for boxers with fight history of less than 5 bouts.
In the first week of July, Greater Accra Boxing Association (GABA) held the 2022 edition of the Novice tournament. This is a boxing event organized for new amateur boxers to help develop their skills and give them fight opportunities in the region.
The 2022 edition of the GABA Novice tournament attracted 40 boxers from 12 clubs within the Greater Accra Region. The competition was open for 13 weights classes. However, only 9 weight classes competed.
The tournament was held at the Will Power Boxing Gym in Accra, fight days was from 1st to 3rd July, 2022.
The Weigh-ins were held at the Bukom Boxing Arena and was supported by the Ghana Boxing Federation.

The president of the Referees and Judges Association, Naa Amerley Turkson was pleased with the provision of standardized score sheets. In her own words she said, “The sheets made our work easier and also helped make the process more transparent. It also helped us instill confidence in the clubs since bout results challenged can be easily verified.
Wisdom Boxing Gym boxers secured 3 golds, Two Sea View boxers also won gold.
New boxing club Grace Boxing earned a gold medal through Raphael Quaye as well as Will Power, Jamestown Boxing Club and Chorkor Champs also earning a gold each.
Winners of tournament are eligible to participate in the 2022 edition of the GABA elite 2022 tournament to be held on July 29 to August 12, 2022.
Mr. Alex Ntiamoah, General Secretary of GABA in the aftermath has advise clubs in the region to actively support the association by patronizing activities. Winners of the competition will be adorn during the Finals of the GABA Homowo Boxing Tournament.
