Jibrih Muntari- A boxer to watch
Jibrih Muntari is a product of Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation who has been selected to represent Ghana in the heavyweight division at the upcoming 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
He participated and won gold in the National Individual Amateur Boxing Championship held at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
According to Coach Dr. Asare of the Black Bombers, Muntari is doing very well in camp and improving day after day.
“If he is encouraged, he can be better and a medal hopeful for the nation” he stated.
According to the head trainer, the way the boxing weights are done in for the Commonwealth Games is not favouring some boxers as local champions in different weights have to contest for a slot to represent the nation.
He noted that all the boxers in camp are doing well and just waiting for the bell to punch.
He thanked the National Sports Authority and Ghana Olympic Committee/ Commonwealth Games Association, Ghana for the support and motivation in camp.
The Black Bombers have been in camp at Winneba for a period.
