The welterweight division is arguably the hotest and biggest division in the boxingdom with big names to make the division an exciting one.

Names like Floyd Mayweather Jr, Errol Spence Jr, Terence Crawford, Manny Pacquiao, Shawn Porter, Keith Thurman among others makes it a must watch when bouts are announced with respect to the welterweight straps.

In 2015, Mayweather vs Pacquiao became the richest fight which produced mind boggling figures in sales and TV revenues. According to HBO and Showtime, the fight generated a record of more than 4.4 million PPV buys. The fight generated more than $600 million in gross revenue across all revenue streams.

Two years later, the UFC star Connor McGregor called for a fight with Mayweather Jr who was then on retirement throwing out a challenge with a promise to stain his (Mayweather) clean sheet career.

Granting the UFC star his request, Mayweather came out of a short retirement making their fight the second richest fight in boxing history. Nevertheless, Floyd Mayweather made about $275 million which was more than what he earned vs Pacquiao with McGregor taking home about $85 million.

With Connor Mcgregor calling out to fight Manny Pacquiao after a collapsed plan to return to the UFC, Mayweather has told McGregor to not expect the money he got when they both met 3 years ago, revealing that he’s bigger than Manny Pacquiao.

“He’s [McGregor] not going to get the money he got with me if he go with Pacquiao,

“It’s not going to be as big. You know, it gets no bigger than Floyd Mayweather.’’

Take note that, before the Mayweather vs McGregor fight, Floyd was guaranteed $100 million but ended up taking home $275 million after the fight. But before anything is agreed in terms of money, lets wait for both fighters to agree to the call.
