Fight day is here with us as the coast of Keta is about to host “Boxing Night” from the Aborigines Beach Resort, brought to you by the Aborigines Boxing Promotions.

The weigh-in event was successful yesterday with the headline bout, Faisal vs Hounkpatin set for tonight in Keta. Thanks to the brilliant and top Matchmaker, Mubarak Yusif Nanor, Boxinghana.com was able to interact with Faisal Abubakari aka Poncho Power and his coach, Coach Ernest Ofori.

Abubakari (10-0, 9KOs), who rules as champion in the super lightweight division in Ghana leaves no stone unturned as he comes face to face tonight with his Togolese nemesis, 41 year old Komlangan Hounkpatin (3-3-1, 2KOs).

In our interaction with Faisal Abubakari, he made it clear that he’s very confident going as he faces Hounkpatin

“I’m very confident here in Keta and I’m going to box Komlangan. I don’t mean we’re going to war when I say I’m going to box him, but rather I’m going to teaching him boxing lessons” said Abubakari.

When quizzed whether a knockout should be expected, this is how he responded

“Despite his [Komlangan] record and age, I’m not underestimating him because he really fought well when he faced One Bullet [Michael Ansah] and even in his split draw with Gabriel Coffie”

Don’t expect knockout from me. I’m going to box him as I’m prepared to go all the rounds with him so when the knockout comes, I’ll take it” he continued.

Abubakari’s coach on the night, Coach Ernest also shared with us his expectations going into the fight

“The fight tonight isn’t going to be a walk over for Faisal. Komlangan is a tough fighter who likes to come at you from start to finish, hence we’re prepared to go full length as the boxer has said.

“Technically, it is our expectation for the fight to travel full length so we can assess our boxer’s performance well, but when a knockout comes, we’ll welcome it”.

Coach Ernest also spoke about their plan for Faisal after this fight

“You know, Faisal is the reigning National Super Lightweight champion, hence we’re now going to focus on Africa and that’s our plans after today’s fight.”

The tickets for the Aborigines Boxing Promotions’ event dubbed “Boxing Night” is going for a cool 10ghc for Regular and 20ghc for VIP.
