Erasmus Owoo, a senior international boxing referee / judge in Ghana has urged boxing fans to have confidence in them to deliver.
Speaking to Your Truly after the Osagyefo Fight Night which took place at the Bukom Boxing Arena, he said boxing officials try very much to do their best to ensure fairness because they know the pains boxers and managers go through before and after bouts.
He advises boxers to show discipline at boxing bouts and box according to the rules and regulations.
Referee Erasmus Owoo who has officiated in many local and international bouts noted that some boxers fail to meet the standards yet they are allowed.
“Some boxers and managers do not meet required conditions and education so I think we should work on all that” he was reacting to allegations that some referee can be bribed.
He stated that Ghanaian boxing referees are among the best on the continent of Africa and would work hard to maintain or improve.
“Ghana has very good boxers as well as very good officials and lovely fans” he expressed
He commended promoters who go by the rules and regulations and hoped that they will also inculcate discipline in trainers and boxers.
Erasmus Owoo has officiated in over 870 bouts, locally and internationally. He sees a bright future for Ghana Boxing.
