Isaac “Royal Storm” Dogboe stood in the center of the ring, unlacing his gloves one last time. Every stitch in those leather gloves held a piece of a journey forged in national pride, royal lineage, and an unwavering pursuit of boxing glory.
Before his rise on the professional stage, Dogboe built an exceptional amateur foundation on his own merit. As a determined teenager, he earned his spot on Ghana’s national amateur boxing team, the Black Bombers. Under the direct tutelage of Ghana’s master tactician and Black Bombers head coach, Coach Dr. Ofori Asare, Dogboe was sharpened into an elite competitor.
Guided by Coach Dr. Asare’s leadership in the national corner, Dogboe fought his way through intense qualifiers to represent Ghana at the 2012 London Olympics as a teenager. Competing on the Olympic stage under Coach Dr. Asare’s mentorship forged Dogboe’s tactical composure and resilience, establishing the vital launchpad for his career.
When the time came to make the transition to professional boxing, his father, Paul Kofi Dogboe, officially took charge as his head trainer and manager.
Drawing from his military background and his family’s heritage in the Royal Badu House of Anyako, Paul brought strict discipline and strategic focus to Isaac’s professional corner. Together, father and son marched through the professional ranks with single-minded focus.
Their relentless march reached a global watershed in 2018. After capturing the WBO Super-Bantamweight World Title by dethroning Jessie Magdaleno, Dogboe caught the eye of legendary promoter Bob Arum.
In October 2018, Dogboe signed a major long-term co-promotional deal with Top Rank Boxing Promotions in partnership with his own outfit, Rising Star Africa Promotions. Joining forces with Top Rank thrust Dogboe directly onto boxing’s global prime-time stage, featuring on major ESPN broadcasts and headlining card slots at iconic venues like Madison Square Garden in New York.
Step by step, Isaac honored his roots on those global Top Rank broadcasts, walking into world title arenas in traditional regal attire alongside his father while bellowing their iconic war cry, “NEHO!” – a call to charge forward without fear.As the physical demands of high-level boxing mounted, their professional corner dynamic faced difficult tests.
Following hard-fought world title defenses against Emanuel Navarrete, Isaac made the tough decision to restructure his team and part ways with his father as trainer.
Yet, the warrior mindset and foundation established during their pro campaign remained central to his drive. Dogboe pressed forward into the featherweight division under Top Rank, capturing regional titles and mounting a world title challenge against Robeisy Ramírez in April 2023.
In September 2023, near the conclusion of Isaac’s fighting journey, his father was officially enstooled as Torgbui Badu IV, head of the Klevia Clan of Anlo from the Royal Badu House of Anyako.
