..As Prince Kamaldeen Crushes Togolese Foe To Clinch WBL Africa Belt
PKO Boxing Management star Prince Kamaldeen Mohammed has announced himself on the continental stage after destroying Togo’s Kokou Vinyo De Souza to clinch the World Boxing League (WBL) Africa Light-Heavyweight belt.
On a night of music, culture and boxing and first time a big boxing tournament is happening at Abelemkpe.
Fighting as ‘Northern Assassin’, Kamaldeen was ruthless at the Homowo Fight Fest at Abelemkpe Park on Saturday night, ending the bout in round three.
The Ghanaian dominated from the first bell, sending De Souza to the canvas in Round 1 and again in Round 2, before sealing a TKO victory at 2:43 of the third round.
It is the biggest win of his professional career and his second straight victory since suffering his first loss to Nathaniel Suppey in April. He bounced back in May with a third-round stoppage of David Okat in Aflao.
An emotional Kamaldeen dedicated the belt to two childhood friends from the North who passed away recently.
“This is my first career title and I am very delighted. I thank my management, my family and my fans. I dedicate this to my two close friends who died recently. We grew up together in the North and I wish they were here to celebrate with me,” he said.
The night belonged to PKO Boxing, whose boxers enjoyed the big stage with victories by Ebenezer Kolebe who improved to 4-0 after veteran Isaac Aryeetey retired in round four, while Joseph ‘The Humble’ Commodore forced Emmanuel Allotey to quit in round five of their welterweight contest.
Humza ‘The Tank Hawk’ Mohammed made light work of his opponent with a first-round stoppage, and former National and WBO Africa welterweight champion Daniel ‘The Emperor’ Gorsh picked up his first win of the year.
Ghana boxing icon and Vice-Chairman of the Ghana Boxing IMC, Professor Azumah Nelson, decorated the new champion with his belt. Gideon Oyiadzo of the GBA IMC supervised the main bout. Some dignitaries present were Dr Osei of PKO, Coach Carl Lokko and Patrick Johnson, Secretary of the BBA IMC was also in charge.as a ring official to ensure that the event went well.
