Freezy Macbones calls out Jonathan Tetteh for pulling out of rematch

Following their blockbuster fight last year, Seth Gyimah (aka Freezy Macbones) and Jonathan ‘Worldwide’ Tetteh were scheduled to rematch in August at an event promoted by Box Office and RBS Promotions.

However, reports indicate Jonathan Tetteh (12-0, 11 KOs) has withdrawn from the event due to a shoulder injury, with less than a month to go.

Macbones (12-1, 11 KOs) took to social media to express his frustration, stating that Worldwide withdrew due to fear of a rematch.

In their first bout, Worldwide outboxed Macbones to secure a unanimous decision victory. The fight was a back and forth affair with Worldwide utilising the ropes to avoid Macbone’s power punches while landing punches of his own anytime the action was at the middle of the ring.

The rematch was scheduled to be held in Macbones’ backyard in Kumasi, following a public contract signing between the two boxers.

While the full extent of Worldwide’s injuries is not yet known, he is confident in a complete recovery and return in December. It would have been a full year since their first bout at that time.

Freezy and Worldwide have each secured one victory this year. Worldwide successfully defended his national light heavyweight title against the experienced multi-division boxer Abdul Aziz Quartey.

On the same evening, Freezy Macbones managed a first-round knockout victory over Nigeria’s Jamiu Animashaun.

Macbones still plans to fight on schedule, having hinted at a title match scheduled for August 9th.

This rumored fight is expected to be featured at The Spirit Fight Night in Pokuase.

The event will also feature Michael Abban competing for the WBA Pan African Superflyweight title against WBC’s 29th ranked Yanga Sigqibo.
