Rolly Romero (17-2, 13 KOs) will defend his WBA welterweight title for the first time against former world champion Teofimo Lopez (22-2, 13 KOs).
The pair will headline a joint Prime Video and DAZN PPV event scheduled for August 22.
Romero has not competed since last May, when he won the title against Ryan Garcia. Romero secured a unanimous decision victory despite being the underdog in the bout.
Come August, Romero will welcome Teofimo Lopez into the welterweight division.
Lopez is looking to bounce back with a win after suffering a defeat to Shakur Stevenson last year. Lopez will fight at 147 pounds for the first time, seeking his third world title in his divisional debut, having already won the unified lightweight titles and a super lightweight title.
Fans can expect an exciting matchup as both men possess a good chance to win, with Lopez bringing elite counter punching and solid defense against Romero’s explosiveness and unorthodox style.
A victory for Lopez would make him a three-division world champion, while Romero would add another significant name to his record with a win.
