Fuel For Fight Workshop Attracts 40 Boxing Coaches And Stakeholders 

The successful workshop on Nutrition and Physiotherapy which was put together by Boxing Is Love, a charitable organisatiion of Boxraw and the Wisdom Boxing Gym at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday June 14, 2026 saw 40 participants who contributed in the theory and practicals sessions.

Hon. Nii Lante Bannerman represented the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and he was seated with the President and First Vice President of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF).

Ms, Sarah Lotus Asare, an Executive member of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF), Archeologist, Author and administrator at Wisdom Gym introduced the programme and talked about the Boxing Heritage, before her dad, Coach Dr. Ofori Asare, founder of Wisdom Boxing Gym gave a short lecture on his achievements and the way forward.

The national boxing coach with many international medals including Olympic and Commonwealth Games said the way forward is going the scientific methodologically internationally accepted ways. 

Mr. Spencer Lee Boya, CEO of Boxing Is Love gave a background about himself and the organization. He expressed his concerns about safety and enhanced performance of boxers. He laid the plans of Boxing Is Love to support boxing gyms in Ghana and give education and resources in boxing equipment .

Mr. Julius Sammah, a licensed and registered nutritionist gave the participants some hints on dieting for sportsmen and women.

He talked about the fuel of the body which is good nutrition for energy and the micro plus macro nutrients which are essential for body development as well as the importance of resting and water intake.

Ms. Amanda Monzorrath Trevino Garcia, a two star IBA licensed coach from Mexico lectured on Physiotherapy, making her session interactive with all participants getting involved in the workshop. 

She demonstrated her training regimes and types of exercises indicating which parts of the body benefit.

Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) showed his support for the workshop and commended Wisdom Boxing Gym for taking the initiative and all the participants for willing to gain new knowledge in capacity building and the organisers for sharing the love.

Also passing through to wish participants well were Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) Presidential aspirants, Ivan Bruce Cudjoe and Rabbon Dodoo. Both of them thanked Boxing Is Love and promised to organize more of such workshops if they are elected.

The coaches who were drawn from the North, Volta, Eastern Regions and the Republic of Togo commended the resource people and sponsors of the workshop as they have learnt new things, and hoped to implement them at the gym.
