…Top boxing club in Accra undergoes refurbishment
The famous Wisdom Boxing Gym in Accra is going through another phase of its foundation and development.
With the support of Boxing Is Love, an NGO based in the United Kingdom, the Wisdom Gym is going through a modernised change in order for the gym to be in good condition to produce more champions.
Mr. Spencer Lee Boya, the CEO of Boxing Is Love and some of his staff were at the gym at Ardebenkpo, Jamestown to oversee the work done by the boxers and assistant coaches themselves.
In an exclusive interview, he expressed his joy for doing what they love most, which is supporting the less privileged with potential to become super stars.
He revealed that they represent the Boxraw brand and hope to deliver some of the needs of the gym in equipment, nutrition, academics and wellness.
He commended Wisdom Boxing Gym for their hard work over the years in producing Olympic and Commonwealth boxers as well as quality and high grade professionals like Tony Danso, Samuel Takyi, Theophilus Allotey, Alligator, Amartiefio, Patrick Allotey aka Arrow, Abdul Wahid Omar, Haruna Mohammed, Emmanuel Quaye, the Samir brothers and others. Recently the gym has seen the likes of Nana Adjei Clinton and Joseph Antwi performing well.
Miss Sarah Lotus Asare, the Administrator of the gym could not hide her joy and promised to ensure good maintenance of the equipment presented to them.
She named a few clubs like Attoh Quarshie, Akotoku Academy, Black Panthers, Charles Quartey and a few boxing clubs in the Greater Accra Region who would benefit from the support.
According to the Executive Board Member of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF), boxing can change lives and boxing is an opportunity for changing the world to become a better place.
Dr. Ofori Asare, founder and head trainer of Wisdom Boxing Club/Gym was very happy for the gesture from Boxing Is Love and urged other gyms and coaches to keep on working hard.
He has established a Wall of Fame at the gym and he explained that the purpose is for Ghanaians and everyone who visits to know that they have come a long way and achieved a lot.
On Sunday June 14 the organisation, Boxing Is Love will organise a Workshop for 50 boxing coaches at the Accra Sports Stadium.
