The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) Elective Extraordinary Congress, originally scheduled for Thursday, 4th June 2026, has been officially postponed.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee (GBIMC), Samir Captan, the Vetting Committee cited several critical factors necessitating the delay. Among the primary reasons given were budgetary constraints, the ongoing compilation of the official delegate list, and the vital need for adequate time to successfully complete the vetting process and subsequent consultations.

A new date for the executive board elections will be communicated to the public once the entire vetting process and stakeholder consultations have been concluded.

Despite the postponement of the main elections, the Vetting Committee for the 2026 GBA Executive Board Elections has actively continued its work.

Key updates from the recent sessions include:

The committee successfully vetted the latest round of aspirants contesting for crucial Executive Board Member positions.Candidates from Batch 1, who had previously been requested to provide additional documentation, were given the platform to respond to queries and present further particulars. To ensure a thorough process, all aspirants have been granted a final opportunity to submit “further and better particulars.” The deadline for these submissions is set for the final vetting day on Thursday, 4th June 2026.

The Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee (GBIMC) has offered firm reassurances regarding the integrity of the process.

The committee emphasized that both the ongoing vetting and the upcoming election processes will be conducted with absolute transparency, fairness, and strict adherence to the dictates of the GBA Constitution.
