Today is the start of competition season in Dakar for the Paris 2024 all Africa boxing qualifiers and Ghana has been using social media to show its support to the Black Bombers and Hitters.

Team Ghana will be starting its competition today with 7 boxers;

Janet Acquah starts for Ghana and Abdul Wahid Omar will fight Ghana’s last bout of the day.

The interest in the qualifiers is evident on social media as various online boxing bloggers have given families, friends, well wishes the opportunities to send well wishes to the Bombers as a motivator ahead of the competition.

The mother of Sarah Apew, a Hitter, who will be fighting in the women’s 60Kg category at 17hours has sent her wishes to her daughter, urging her to fight on. A gesture which is powerful considering the social perspective of female engagement in boxing in Ghana.

Others such as J. A. Annan, Nii Jr, Patrick Allotey, Sam Nana Gold and other boxing fans have all taken to social media to share their well wishes.
