My Birthday wish is to meet Ike Quartey my role model – Hakeem Lokko

Hakeem Lokko a young boxing talent from the Bronx Boxing Club said his birthday wish is to meet his role model Ike Quartey.

Lokko, one of the many formidable juvenal boxers in Ghana fathered and trained by Carl Lokko today celebrates his birthday with pride and big dreams. He said that as he grows and becomes a little wiser his wish is to get closer to Ike ‘Bazooka’ Quartey his role model and to learn some of his secrets that made him successful in his career.

“As I celebrate my birthday today my wish is to have my father take me to meet with Ike Quartey who is my role model. It will be the most cherished present I have ever received from my dad”. Hakeem Lokko said on a telephone interview with Boxing Ghana’s Mustapha Nettey.
” My first time meeting with him was when he came to the Bronx gym during the period Richard Commey was preparing for his first world title fight against Robert Easter Jnr. I want to be a world champion and therefore I must get closer and learn as much as I could from him” he added.

Lokko have had good boxing tutelage from his dad since age four (4) when he told his dad he wanted to become a boxer. He’s fought many times and have had exhibition fight as curtain raisers for professional events. He is currently preparing to meet Joseph Awinongya Jnr in the United States for an exchange program. The program was scheduled for early part of this year but the COVID-19 pandemic has affected hence  postponed to next year.
