Ghanaian boxers are rated very high in the latest Commonwealth rankings just released. Habib Ahmed is currently the number one contender in his division.

Starting with the heavyweight division where Joe Joyce is the champion, Ghana’s Ebenezer Tetteh is the number 12 contender on the log with boxers like Daniel Dubois of the UK who is penciled to fight Ghana’s WBO Africa Champ Richard Lartey on April 27 at Wembley stadium in number three. Even Tyson Fury is 5th on the log.

In the Cruiserweight, another Ghanaian Abraham Tabul is rated 14 on the list after securing the title against Ferguson from the USA in the just ended Bukom Brawl which was promoted by Box Office Sports managed by Alex Ntiamoah Boakye.

The Super middleweight is very exciting, where you have Ghana’s Habib Ahmed as the number one contender with no current champion because the belt is vacant. Interestingly enough the winner of Tommy Lanford versus Lerrone Richards due to take place next month on April 27 at the Wembley Arena will fight Ghana’s Emmanuel Martey who is 11th on the commonwealth contender log. Another Ghanaian fighter Delali Miledzi is also rated 12th on the log sheet.

In the Middleweight rankings, Don’s Promotions Obodai Sai who is currently the WBO Africa champion is number 13 on the ratings, followed by Issah Samir in the 14th position. Felix Cash is the current champion in the division and can defend the belt against any of the rated fighters.

Patrick Allotey of Cabic Promotions and Management bankrolled by Ivan Bruce Cudjoe is the number one contender in the Super welterweight division where the strap is currently vacant. At the welterweight division, Ghana’s Richmond Djarbeng is rated 7th with USA based Frederick Lawson who fights Juan Ruiz on Saturday rated 13th.

The top contender occupying the number one slot in the super lightweight division is Nathaniel Kpakpo Allotey. Fellow Ghanaian from the stables of Don’s Promotions Robert Quaye is also rated 18th on the log.

Current Ghana lightweight champion Michael the ‘One Bullet’ Ansah is equally rated number one on the contender log, with George Ashie 2nd and Maxwell Awuku 3rd in that order. BabyJet Promotions Emmanuel Tagoe who is currently the African titlist is number 21 on the list.

Also in the Super featherweight division, another Ghanaian Patrick Ayi is the number one contender on the log while Rafael Mensah is rated 10th.

Felix Williams of Nigeria but based in Ghana is also rated 14th in the Featherweight division.

The Super bantamweight sees Ghana’s former world champion Isaac the ‘Royal Storm’ Dogboe occupying the 3rd position on the log, that same division houses the current African champion Wasiru Mohammed in the 9th position with Manyo Plange following in the10th position.

Finally, in the bantamweight division, Ghana’s Joshua Agbeko is rated the number one contender in the division with Duke Micah rated 13th on the contenders log.
