Did the GBA received a percentage of Lartey’s purse in his purported ‘forgery’ letter which landed him a 5 year ban?

Big-punching Ghanaian heavyweight boxer Richard Lartey (14-4, 11 KOs) has revealed how the Ghana Boxing Authority took a percentage of his purse in his so called alleged ‘Forgery’ that has landed him a 5-year ban.

The development is strange and worrying as it reveals the kind double standard that is currently being exhibited by the Authority.

Boxing Ghana is privy to a document that shows that Ghana Boxing Authority received an amount in pounds and collected 10,000 pounds respectively from source before sanctioning the fight between Fabio Wardley (11-0,10 KOs)  and Lartey on Saturday 27, March 2021 at the Europa Point Sports Complex, Gibraltar promoted by the astute boxing guru Eddie Hearn.

One Mr. Azumah Cofie, requested that ” Richard Lartey’s previous bouts held on 27 of April 2019 and 10 of October 2020 in London against Dubois and Nathan Gorman respectively has an outstanding amount to be paid to Ghana Boxing Authority and Cabic Promotions & Management.”

The Breakdown were follows:

“1. Harrison vs Dubois 5% (GBP 2,500)

2. Nathan Gorman 5% (GBP 1,000)

Cabic Promotions and Management

1. Harrison vs Nathan Gorman 33.3% (GBP 6,660)” meaning that both Richard Lartey’s previous fights were all received by the GBA and Cabic Promotions & Management respectively.

Now it gets even better

“In the upcoming fight (Richard Lartey vs Fabio Wardley) an amount of GBP 10,000 (Ten Thousand British Pounds) representing 33.3% being the agreed term between Cabic and Mr. Lartey should be held by the BBBofC to be deposited into my Santander account after the bout.”Quotation ended but Now here comes the bombshel.

” Kindly ensure that the said amount is deposited immediately after the bout. ADDITIONALLY, please ensure that the GHANA BOXING AUTHORITY receive their 5% bout commission fee through what ever method they advised in their release letter.

Subject to the above terms met, I would go ahead to advise the GBA to RELEASE Mr. Lartey for the bout against Mr. Wardley immediately.” The document concluded.

Once again Boxing Ghana, your most authoritative boxing portal must indicate that we have custody of the account names and medium of payments which makes it crystal clear that the GBA took their commission in their own purported “forgery case” against Richard Lartey.

Boxing Ghana has documents of receipts of payments and subsequent approval by all parties hence it comes as a big suprise how and why Richard Lartey was imposed with a 5 year ban for an alleged forgery as stipulated in the GBA letter.

Letter GBA…….

Richard Lartey Harrison was purportedly found to have forged a release letter from the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) with a forged signature of the GBA Secretary-General, Patrick Johnson, for his bout with Fabio Wardley in the UK on November 21, 2020 which he lost by a second-round TKO.

But from the documents we have from almost all the parties, We are compelled to inquire these 5 important questions;

Questions:

1. Did the GBA received their commission fee of the bout  IF YES ?

2. On what locus did the GBA took the commission fee ?

3. Did they sanctioned the bout ?

4. Did they dialogued with one Mr. Azumah  Cofie ?

5. On what basis and law did the Authority used to reach that conclusion?
