Black Bombers/Hitters Final Squad For Paris 2024 Africa Qualifier In Senegal

The Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) has released its final squad for the Olympics Africa Qualifications set to take place in Dakar, Senegal from Saturday, 9th September to Friday, 15th September, 2023.

 

The final squad is made up of five (5) women (Black Hitters) and seven (7) men (Black Bombers)

Below is a breakdown of the final squad.

 

Black Hitters:

  1. Janet Acquah – Flyweight (50kg)

  2. Ramatu Quaye – Bantamweight (54kg)

  3. Anatu Mohammed – Featherweight (57kg)

  4. Sarah Apew – Lightweight (60kg)

  5. Ornella Sathoud – Middleweight (75kg)

 

Black Bombers

  1. Theophilus Allotey – Flyweight (51kg)

  2. Abdul Wahid Omar – Featherweight (57kg)

  3. Joseph Commey – Light Welterweight (63.5kg)

  4. Alfred Kotey – Light Middleweight (71kg)

  5. Seth Gyimah – Light Heavyweight (81kg)

  6. Jonathan Tetteh – Heavyweight (92kg)

  7. David Bawah Akankolin – Super Heavyweight (92kg+)

There are 18 Olympic quota spots at stake for Africa and Team Ghana is determined to sail through the qualifications with all its participants. In the qualifier, there is just one men’s quota berth available in each of the seven classes, with two quota spots up for grabs in each women’s weight class in Dakar apart from there being just one in the 75kg division.

 

For boxers who fail to earn quota spots in Dakar, there will be a further opportunities at the two world qualification tournaments in Busto Arzizio, Italy from 29th February to 12th March, 2024 and Bangkok, Thailand from 23rd May to 3rd June, 2024.
