AN ALL GIRLS BOXING TOURNAMENT TO TAKE PLACE ON APRIL 24

The celebration of women and children has become a significant role many outfits in the world are taking keen interest in. With many developing the love for sports and its development, Ms. Sarah Lotus Asare, the Administrator and Assistant Organiser of the Greater Accra Boxing Association together with the abled board chaired by Hon. Wallace Nii Tackie-Komme (Chairman), Evans Bernie Johnson (1st Vice Chairman), Edith Brako (2nd Chairman), Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye (General Secretary), Solomon Otoo Lartey (Organiser, Ben Tawiah (Technical Director) and Naa Amerley Turkson have put together a boxing bout that centres on girls with the main aim of kick starting their own means of kicking out teenage pregnancy with education and sports that will ensure the girl child has a future where their inclusion in the sport can warrant them a voice in the society.

With this being the first of its kind to happen in the country, girls of all walks will have the opportunity to enroll in this tournament and after continue a sporting career in boxing.

In an exclusive interview with the Administrator and Assistant Organiser Ms. Sarah Lotus Asare on the said tournament she disclosed

“The tournament is to create an already established awareness of the dangers in teenage pregnancy as well as cement a future for the teenage girl with a career that will ensure their future is well shaped.”

She further exclaimed that

“we are not only interested in staging the all-girls tournament which is one of its kind but also engage the girl child in numerous educative seminars and training which will further help them to decide a future in the sport, it be coaching, going profession or teaching others about the sport.”

On the 24th of April 2021 at the Old City Engineers Compound at James Town, Accra, the historic event will kick start with over 24 girls taking to the ring to showcase their skills and love for boxing.

This will create an opening and love for the sport as will also catch the attention of girls who have the desire but not sure how to go about finding the fight path to joining or unearthing their talent in the world of boxing.
