Michael Abban vs Joseph Akai Nettey targeted for December 18

Alex Nitiamoah, CEO of Box Office Promotions, announced in a recent interview plans for a December fight night headlined by Michael Abban versus Joseph Akai Nettey.

The event is targeted for December 18th at the Laboma beach resort.

Michael ‘Black Spider’ Abban (15-1, 10 KOs), although maintaining a low profile in daily life, is nothing short of a great boxer in the making.

Abban is the current WBA Pan African Super Flyweight champion and is ranked 15th in the WBA and WBO world super flyweight standings.

He also holds the Commonwealth Silver title in the same division.

In December, he is set to face Joseph Akai Nettey (11-3, 10 KOs), a fellow countryman looking to leverage the buzz around Abban.

A victory here for Nettey could catapult him up the world rankings and bring him nearer to a world title.

Nettey, 24, boasts a 90% knockout rate in 11 wins, indicating he has the power to finish his opponents most of the time.

He began his career in the light flyweight and flyweight divisions, even securing the national light flyweight championship in 2021, but moved to the super flyweight division due to limited competition at the lower weight classes.

The bout will bring Abban, a world-ranked boxer, against Akai Nettey, an ambitious contender aiming to climb the ranks ahead of Abban.

Alex Ntiamoah also hinted at a bout between National lightweight champion Joseph ‘Jaguar’ Commey and top lightweight prospect Bernard ‘Kenya’ Abbey on the same night.
