Charles Narh Tetteh aka ‘The Hitman’ was declared winner by split points decision over Wasiru ‘Gyata Bi’ Moahmmed at the exciting action packed Bishop Box Cup presented by Bishop Boxing Promotions on Saturday night at the Tse Annan Memorial Centre in La, Accra.
He won the bout by a split decision after the three judges at ring side scored it 95-96, 93-97 and 98-93 in his favour. Boxing fans had much to cheer about as blows and punches were traded by some of the best practitioners of the sport who proved their braveness and courage.
It was one of the best fights in recent years. It was a fierce battle from Round 1 to Round 10 and most boxing fans thought it should have been a championship bout. Charles Tetteh and Wasiru Mohammed proved that Ghana has the boxers to win world titles.
The Hitman extended his professional boxing record to 15-14-0 with 10KOs and he is still keeping focus on challenging on the world stage.
Africanus ‘Africa’ Neequaye from the Jamestown Gym won by unanimous points victory over Sunday Adeleye at the Bishop Box Cup presented by Bishop Boxing Promotions. The judges scored it 91-79, 99-90 and 98-92 all in favour of Neequaye who improved his fight record to 12-12-0 and still unbeaten.
The National super lightweight champion was really tested by Adeleye whoes jollof could not match the taste and flavor of the Ghana jollof.
George Faho Mensah of the SP Sport Management stable and 2018 Commonwealth Games medalist Jessie Lartey fought hard to a drawn game as there was no clear winner in their master class act in the ring. Their eight-round super lightweight fray, ended as a majority draw after the judges scored it 77-75, 76-76 and 76-76.
The anticipated showdown between Moses Adjei Selvi and Emmanuel Mawuli also ended in a split decision draw.
Ernest Ampah showed enough punching power to stop Odailai Lamptey in the third of their eight-round super lightweight contest.
In fact all the boxers on the bill need to be commended for marvelous performance.
