Richard Commey vs Luke Campbell? Richard says he’s ready

Former IBF world champion Richard Oblitey Commey is poised to claim his title(s) back as a world champion since he lost it to Teofimo Lopez back in 2019 on an unfortunate night for all Ghanaians and his fans across the world.

The 2 time world champion in the making has been training and working hard to achieve this feat. He made an announcement of his desire to win back his title and any other title after he knocked out Jackson Marinez who had before that night lost just once after 20 professional fights.

The Goodwill Ambassador for UNA-CWCA in a recent tweet has told his promoter to make a fight between him and Luke Campbell happen.

The Streetwise Foundation Global Ambassador arrived in the US few days ago to get to business and continue the mission ahead of him.

In a tweet he said

“It’s great to be back in the USA and I’ll be speaking with my team soon to work out what’s next. All lightweights are on notice, I’m here to win my title back so let’s make it happen. @loudibella @DiBellaEnt @trboxing @Streetwisemgt @connolly005 @Mickey_Moo 🇬🇭💥🇬🇭💥🇬🇭💥”

In response to the above tweet from the champ, a writer for Boxing Social, Shawn Brown (@Shawnrbrown) replied “Commey v Campbell?”

The reply caught Commey’s promoter’s attention who also responded “Why not? Terrific fight”

Richard Commey reacted to his promoter’s response in agreement to the matchup between him and Campbell (20-4, 16KOs) who in his last 2 fights lost to Vasyl Lomachenko and Ryan Garcia in 2019 and early this year respectively

“Let’s make it happen Lou!!! I know his trainer @McGuigans_Gym and his dad @ClonesCyclone well from my time in the UK, great people and I have lots of respect for them.” – Richard Commey via twitter

Will this fight materialize? I believe its all on Campbell and his team to accept the challenge and make it happen. This fight I believe should be enough for the former world champion to get a title shot if it happens, but off course Richard must win which I believe he can simply do.

Teofimo Lopez currently holds the IBF, WBA (Super) and WBO lightweight titles with Devin Haney holding the WBC light strap. The unified champion Lopez will be defending his titles against George Kambosos Jnr on June 19th at the LoanDepot Park, Miami, Florida, USA whilst Devin Haney makes his 2nd defense against Jorge Linares on 29th May at the Michelob Ultra Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

It is therefore prudent for Commey to keep himself active and sharp as he awaits those verdicts.
