Maxwell Awuku preparing to re-launch his world title ambitions

Former WBA Pan African Champion and a WBC World title challenger Maxwell Awuku has relaunch his world championship ambition and ready to relocate to the United States to follow his dream of becoming a world champion.

Awuku who was in a trying camp with Alfred Lamptey help the young lad with some good sparring to prepare for his (Lamptey’s) success of winning the WBO Youth World/ WBC Youth World Silver against Iddi Kayumba on September 4, 2021 said he is still in a good shape to have one competitive fight on October 23, 2021 here in Ghana for International ratings before relocating to the US to chase his dream of becoming a world champion..

Rashid Lamptey – head trainer of Awuku spoke to Yours Truly about the current shape and form of Awuku which he believes could even win a world title if match against any of the current world champions any day

He said they are in good shape and training camp has always been good and fun.

He believed after their failed attempt to annex the WBC International title  in Italy due to “bad” treatment of the promoter there has made them learned their lessons and therefore wouldn’t wait till there’s a fight to train but any day to be in good shape and ready to wait for the opportunity.

He reiterated the need to make sure they travel earlier whenever there is an international fight so the can acclimatized and to bring the best out.

Assistant trainer Abdul Rahman Dodoo added that, “to be a world champion is not an easy road but takes time, effort and dedication, some achieve it earlier in their career and some late but the most important thing is to focus and make sure to reach there no matter how earlier or later you achieve”

They’re opponent for their 23rd October fight would be announced in a due course.
