GPBL returns for season 2: Wisdom Boxing Gym starts strong

IMAX promotions in collaboration with Ghana Boxing Authority have returned with the second edition of the Ghana Professional Boxing League.

The popular boxing promotional series made its return at the Bukom Boxing Arena last night, 18th March, 2023.

Winners of season 2, best boxer and best boxing club will take home a Renault Logan each.

The new season features 14 boxing clubs / Institutions; an increase of 4 including 2 security service teams (The Ghana Armed Forces and the Prison Service).

Bronx Boxing Club and Will Power, located in Jamestown also makes their debut in the new Season 2 of the Ghana Professional Boxing League.

Jamestown Boxing Club who merged with SeaView Boxing Club in the previous year will not be making a return in this 2nd Season.

Boxing fans came out in their numbers to enjoy the thrilling 8-card event featuring known big punchers like Shakul Samed Samir and Season one sensation boxer Eric Korley.

Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation winners of the season 1 went home excited with total of 3 wins on the night, including the professional debut of 16 year old Accra Academy Student and son of Ghana Boxing Authority President Cann Neequaye who defeated his Ivorian opponent Mumuni Sowado on points.

Wisdom Boxing Gym was likely the most impressive with their performance last night ending the previous season at the bottom of the league came out so strong in Fight Night 1 earning the fastest win of the night; 2 mins and 9 seconds in round 1 by Sampson Jara against Bridge Foundation Boxing Foundation Boxer who was caught by a punch early on in the round.

Last night’s card promises a great season!

However, fans in the audience have asked for better match-ups and fair decisions to make the season a good one.
