Meet Paul Balungu, a 14 year old juvenile boxer who trains with Chorkor Champs Boxing Club.

Paul Balungu resides and trains in Chorkor. Paul has been learning boxing for 2 years and is looking forward to making a mark in the 2022 edition of School Boys and Girls Championship dubbed “Books B4 Hooks”.

Paul trains from Mondays to Fridays at 4pm at Chorkor Champs and joins the National Juvenile Team on Saturdays (under the tuition of Coach Charles Quartey).

In his own words, Paul revealed that his coach is his main support as he pursues his boxing career, “Coach Armah provides me with my boxing kits and gives me money”

The boxer is a student at the Korle Gonno Methodist Basic School in class 4.

Paul is expected to participate in Books B4 Hooks 2022 and he is confident of reaching the finals to pick up a cash prize.

Paul is one of the 12 Juveniles learning at Chorkor Champs Boxing Club based in Chorkor. The club is headed by Benard Armah.

Paul advised junior boxers to combine education with boxing so they can tell if they are being cheated. In his words

“School is important, you have to go to school as a boxer so you can speak English and read, if not every time you are given a contract, you cannot read and you’re likely to complain when you are being cheated”
