If you love boxing, you’re in luck because May is loaded with amazing fights. Here’s what’s coming up

and why you should be watching.

1. Chaos in the Ring 2 – Lagos, Nigeria

When and where: Friday May 1st at the Federal Palace Hotel. 5PM WAT (4PM GMT) – Live on DAZN.

Balmoral Promotions and Amir Khan Promotions are bringing another big boxing event to Nigeria.

Headlining this event is a celebrity boxing match between Nigerian streamer Carter Efe and musician

Portable.

The ‘real’ boxing main event will feature former Nigerian national super middleweight champion Ezra

Arenyeka against former national and ABU champion Godday Appah in a light heavyweight bout.

On the undercard, Ghana’s Elvis Ahorgah is scheduled to go head-to-head with England’s Joe Laws.

2. Ramirez vs Benavidez – Las Vegas, USA.

When and where: Saturday May 2nd at the T-Mobile Arena. Live on Amazon Prime.

Big business is happening in the cruiserweight division with David Benavidez stepping up to take on the

unified champion, Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez, for the WBA and WBO cruiserweight world titles.

Whoever wins could be next up to challenge Jai Opetaia who is widely viewed as the best in the division.

The co-main event will feature Amrando Resendiz and Jaime Munguia competing for the vacant WBA

super middleweight title.

The undercard will showcase several Mexican boxers, such as Oscar Duarte vs Angel Barrera, and Isaac

Lucero vs Ismael Flores.

3. Tszyu vs. Diaz – New South Wales, Australia

When and where: Wednesday May 6th at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.

Nikita Tszyu and Oscar Diaz, both undefeated super welterweights, will put their unbeaten streaks on the

line in a fight that could push them higher in the global rankings.

The event will also feature several boxers from ‘Down Under’ showcasing their skills.

4. Best of Bukom 3 – Accra, GhanaWhen and where: Friday May 8th at the Laboma Beach Resort. Live on MaxTV

Henry Malm and Sampson Segbedzi have business to settle in their super welterweight match. These two

boxers, both considered promising talents, now face the challenge of living up to expectations in the next

stage of their careers.

It seems Segbedzi has settled into the weight division that best suits his boxing skills, and he’s scheduled

to fight Henry Malm who is ready for action.

The national super welterweight will be up for grabs as Musah Lawson faces Dana Kofi.

On the undercard, Bishop Boxing Promotions signees Wasiru Mohammed and Majid Yakubu will be

competing. Yakubu will face the seasoned Ghislain V odounhessi, while Mohammed will go head-to-head

with Yusuf Muhammed Olalekan.

5. Wardley vs Dubois – Manchester, England

When and where: Saturday May 9th at the Co-OP LIVE Arena. Live on DAZN.

This is one of the most important events of the year. Fabio Wardley will defend his WBO heavyweight

title against former heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois. Both fighters have a 95% knockout ratio, so

fans should expect a knockout as the likely outcome of the bout.

Also on the card, UK-based Ghanaian boxer Ekow Essuman will face undefeated Jack Rafferty.

6. Zuffa Boxing 6 – Las Vegas, USA

When and where: Sunday May 10th at the META Apex. Live on Paramount+.

Zuffa Boxing is fully committed to Sunday events, this time featuring a 10-round middleweight main

event between Shane Mosley Jr. and Serhii Bohachuk. This will be Bohachuk’s second event as a Zuffa

boxer.

In February, he made his first appearance, defeating Radzhab Butaev by split decision. Mosley Jr will

lookk to get back on the winning track after a loss to Jesus Ramos last December.

7. Jerusalem vs Kuse – Gauteng, South Africa

When and where: Saturday May 16th at the Kempton Park. Live on SuperSport.

Melvin Jerusalem will defend his WBC strawweight title against Siyakholwa Kuse in a rematch. Last

October, the two boxers faced off, with Jerusalem securing a unanimous decision victory over the South

African. This will be Kuse’s chance to turn the tide and win a world title.8. Allen vs. Hrgovic – Doncaster, England

When and where: Saturday May 16th at the Eco Power Stadium. Live on DAZN.

Filip Hrgovic will fly into enemy territory to face hometown favourite Dave Allen in a 10 round

heavyweight contest. Dave’s career has seen its share of highs and lows, but a win against Hrgovic paves

the way for bigger fights in the future.

Hrgovic will be expected to win this fight, but every so often, Dave slays Goliath.

Louie O’Doherty and Ahmed Hatim will compete for the British and Commonwealth lightweight titles on

the undercard.

9.Davis vs. Albright II – Virgina, USA

When and where: Saturday May 16th at the Scope Arena. Live on DAZN.

Top rank opens the DAZN deal with a rematch between Keyshawn Davis and Nahir Albright. The

co-main event will have Brain Norman Jr up against Canada’s Josh Wagner.

Davis and Albright first fought in 2023, with Keyshawn winning the match by unanimous decision.

However, the result was later changed to a no contest because marijuana was detected in Keyshawn’s

blood samples.

10. Usyk vs Verhoeven – Giza, Egypt

When and where: Saturday May 23rd at the Pyramids of Giza. Live on DAZN.

This is an epic event, featuring a heavyweight main event with the Giza pyramids as a backdrop.

The undisputed greatest heavyweight kickboxer, Rico Verhoeven, will compete in the boxing ring for only

the second time, facing the former undisputed and current unified heavyweight champion, Oleksandr

Usyk.

The stage is set for a high-stakes clash between the two boxers. Usyk’s reputation and undefeated streak

are on the line against Rico who is determined to defy the odds.

The WBO super middleweight titles will be contested between Hamzah Sheeraz and Alem Begić on the

undercard. Also, Shakhram Giyasov and Jack Catterall will compete for the WBA Regular welterweight

championship.

Mizuki Hiruta will be defending her WBO super flyweight championship against the determined Mai

Soliman.11. Bivol vs Eifert – Ekaterinburg, Russia

When and where: Saturday May 30th at the UMMC Arena.

Bivol is back after undergoing hand surgery and will defend his unified IBF, WBA, and WBO light

heavyweight titles against Germany’s Michael Eifert.

Last year, Bivol achieved undisputed champion status and has been riding that high, especially after

avenging his only career loss to Artur Beterbiev.

However, a persistent injury required surgery, which kept him from active competition for several months.

Michael Eifert’s only goal will be to take Bivol’s belts from him.
