Road To Commonwealth Games, Glasgow 2026 Starts For Black Bombers

The National Boxing Team of Ghana, the new Black Bombers will be selected after the upcoming Individual championship which starts at the Bukom Boxing Arena from Thursday January 29 to February 1, 2026.

Since the 2023 African Games which was held in 2024 in Accra, the Black Bombers was dissolved as the boxers decided to turn professional following their successful campaign with marvelous performance.Team Ghana swept most of the medals in boxing at Accra 2023.

So after the era of Abu Kamoko aka Ambitious Tilapia, Jonathan ‘Worldwide’ Tetteh, Seth Gyimah aka Freezy Macbones, Henry Malm, Joseph ‘Jaguar ‘ Commey, Samuel ‘Ring Warrior’ Takyi, Theophilus Allotey and Abraham Mensah, there is the urgent need to select and build a new team.

As the next Commonwealth Games scheduled for July – August 2026 approach, the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) led by Dauda Fuseni has already laid plans and strategies for a new team and how to manage to camp them, organise training programmes and media exposure for the new Bombers.

There would be fireworks at the Ga Mashie Hall of the Trust Sports Emporium as the future amateur stars and champions showcase themselves.

Reports say boxers are coming from all over Ghana, north. south, east and west to justify their inclusion.

The numerous boxing clubs in Chorkor, Bukom and Jamestown are also presenting boxers.

Amadu Mohammed of Sea View Boxing Club is one of the stars to look out for. as well as Desmond Pappoe, Mathias Ashitey, George Dowuona and others from Wisdom Boxing Club, The Gym, Akotoku Academy, Attoh Quarshie Boxing Club, Seconds Out Gym, Black Panthers Gym, Bronx Boxing Club, Bukom Boxing Gym, Sonia Gym, Will Power Boxing Gym, Discipline Boxing Gym Chorkor Champs Gym and Northern Boxing Club based at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium at Tamale.

The coaches and trainers have expressed their readiness to abide by the medical and safety protocols plus fair play at all levels.

Boxing fans are also advised to comport themselves at the hall.

There are a few sponsors who have promised to reward the most outstanding boxers and coaches.

All roads lead to the Bukom Boxing Arena for amateur boxing action. You can’t miss the punches, sweat and fun.

Most especially let’s encourage the new Black Bombers.
