Osumanu Haruna and Emmanuel Martey were defeated in Tanzania
Ghana’s Haruna ‘Saabo’ Osumanu has lost his World Boxing Organisation-WBO Africa heavyweight title in Tanzania to home favourite, Frank Shagembe via a round 3 TKO after the Ghanaian couldn’t continue again due to a hand injury in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania on New Year’s Eve.
Another Ghanaian, former WBO Africa super middleweight champion, Emmanuel Martey also failed to add another continental title in a different division as 2 Ghanaian judges scored it 99-91, 99-91, whilst the third had it 98-92, all in favour of Asemahle Wellem of South Africa who becomes the new World Boxing Organisation-WBO Africa light heavyweight champ – Viwanja vya Posta, Dar-Es-Salaam – 31/12/2025.
