Stakes high for Wasiru Mohammed and Charles Tetteh ahead of Bishop Box Cup
The Tse Annan Memorial Centre will host the Bishop Box Cup, a 9-fight event, promoted by Bishop Boxing Promotions.
The stakes heading into the event could not be any higher than it is: division mainstays who will look to show their dominance, undefeated boxers who want to protect their O’s, and underdogs looking to cause an upset.
In the main event Wasiru Mohammed faces Charles Tetteh in a classic veteran vs prospect fight.
At just 22 years old, Charles Tetteh has already established himself as one of the most exciting prospects in the super featherweight division.
The undefeated boxer has earned a reputation for his fast punching and aggressive style, which have been beneficial to his 13 fight unbeaten streak.
In his first year as a professional boxer, he defeated John ‘The Magic Man’ Quaye to become the national super featherweight champion.
Standing in Tetteh’s way is the former national and WBO Africa Super bantamweight champion Wasiru Mohmmed.
Wasiru has only lost once in his career and was considered one of the best super bantamweight boxers in his heyday, even climbing to number 6 on the WBO world rankings.
His career stalled for over four years because of a dispute with his management team.
Now he is rebuilding with the hope of making it to the world rankings again.
As the more experienced fighter, Mohammed will have to utilize his years of training and knowledge of fighting high-level opponents to his advantage.
Charles Tetteh has the benefit of youth on his side being 8 years younger than his opponent.
However, Wasiru has shown little to no signs of aging in his recent bouts.
Fans are in for a treat because both boxers are well matched with regards to speed and power.
The event will also feature four other undefeated boxers: Emmanuel Mawuli, Abraham Mensah, Africanus Neequaye and Sarah Apew.
