Sampson Segbedzi is set to take on Henry Malm on May 8.

Laboma beach resort will host a fight between two of Ghana’s most promising boxers on May

8th. The 10-round super welterweight contest will see Henry ‘Assassin Junior’ Malm,(11-0, 10

KOs) face off against Sampson ‘Mama’s boy’ Segbedzi (10-1, 7 KOs).

Malm, 26, has remained undefeated since he began his professional career in 2021. He is a

popular fan favorite in Bukom, largely due to his charisma backed by impressive performances

in the ring.

Malm experienced a breakthrough year in 2024, securing a victory against Justice Addy, and

bears the expectation to maintain the momentum in his upcoming bout.

Segbedzi, a promising prospect from Ashaiman, maintained an undefeated record for nine fights

before suffering his first loss to Ibrahima Diallo in 2025.

Sampson has spent most of his career at welterweight, and held the national and UBO Africa

welterweight titles in 2024.

However, for a boxer with the physique of a middleweight, moving up to the super welterweight

division seems like the right choice.

Diallo’s victory over Sampson indicated a weakness in Sampson’s style, notably a lack of

aggression that, if improved, would make him a more potent opponent in this fight.

Henry Malm is expected to have the advantage in speed and power as seen in his consistent

knockouts. Sampson has the edge due to fighting tougher competition and being a very durable

contender.

Both fighters have a mutual opponent in Isaac Commey. Segbedzi was gaining the upper hand in

the fight against Commey until Commey’s headbutt resulted in his own disqualification.

Malm, on the other hand, became the first person to KO Isaac Commey since his debut loss.

Ultimately, the fighters will compete for bragging rights and the momentum needed to propel

their careers onto the global stage.

The undercard will feature a bout between Musah Lawson (17-1, 12 KOs), a multiple-time

national super welterweight champion and Kofi Dana (8-3, 8 KOs).

In another bout, Wasiru Mohammed (15-1, 13 KOs), the former WBO global super

bantamweight titleholder, will compete against Nigerian fighter Yusuf Muhammed Olalekan

(10-3, 8 KOs).Majid Yakbu (4-1, 2 KOs) will face a tough challenge from experienced boxer Ghislain

V odounhessi (25-5-1, 23 KOs) in an 8-round lightweight match.

Undefeated 20-year-old Emmanuel Mawuli (14-0, 11 KOs) will take on Moses Adjei Selvi

(10-2, 10 KOs) while Joseph Sackey (8-2, 8 KOs) and Theophilus Tetteh (15-4, 13 KOs) will go

head-to-head in an 8-round featherweight contest.
