Haruna Mohammed, a favourite in the upcoming Ghana National Cruiserweight championship at Salafest, has revealed that his preparations towards the fight has been the most intense fight preparation he’s ever had since the start of his boxing career.

“I have been training twice daily and changed my eating pattern. I feel very fit and ready to give Ghana a great show.

Haruna Mohammed, who had a brief amateur background for 2 years, achieving success at the Regional level as Greater Novice Champion and Silver medalist in the heavyweight category has had an interesting pro start.

His first fight, which was a win against the experienced foreign based Jabari, earned him a one star on Boxrec.

Beyond boxing for points, Haruna headlined Wisdom Boxing Promotions’ first bout, taking on “Chief Executive” Sulemana to raise funds to make desks for children in Ghana.

On 13th April, 2024, Haruna will come toe to toe with the varsely experienced George Amuzu who will be making his second attempt to annex a Ghana National Title. This is tipped as one of the key fights for the night, as George is known for his power and durability.

Haruna noted “Ghana should expect a great show. I have had a great camp, training side by side with one of the finest boxers from Ghana [Bastie Samir]. Bastie and I have used that opportunity to learn a lot.

“I am really grateful for the opportunity to fight for the National Title, thanks to Wisdom Boxing Promotions and SP Sports Management.”

“I would also like to use this opportunity to thank everyone who has been supporting me up to this level; my technical team Coach Ofori Asare, assistant coaches Quaye and Adjei.

Assistant Coach Emmanuel Quaye, who has been closely working with Haruna in preparation for his upcoming championship revealed that Haruna is ready.

“Haruna has really improved and dedicated himself for this fight, I am confident he will give Ghana an unforgettable performance.”

“All my fans: Ayata, chorkor, Shiabu Zongo, Wisdom Area, Komkomba, everywhere in Ghana, please get your tickets and come watch me. Trust me, you will have a good night” concludes Haruna Mohammed.
