Golovkin to make comeback on June 8th, Sets eyes on Canelo in September.

Come Saturday, 8 June, Madison Square Garden, in New York, will witness the comeback of Gennady Golovkin (38-1-1,34 KOs) for the first time after his defeat to Saul Canelo Alvarez when he fights Canadian Steve Rolls (19-0,10 KOs) on his maiden DAZN debut.

Under his new protege Johnathon Banks, many are expectant of the new GGG who is fighting at a catch-weight 164 pounds.

“I feel like a student” said Golovkin on his new trainer Johnathon Banks. “There was a big surprise for everybody last weekend. I’m just focusing on Steve Rolls. If I beat him, 99 percent in September Canelo fight is happening.”

“Johnathon Banks is bringing special style from Detroit. Johnathon brings new style. He showed me new stuff.” Golovkin told the assembled media.

But 35 year old Toronto, Ontario born Steven Michael Rolls, famed Steve Rolls, is optimistic of an upset.

“When I beat Golovkin, that will be life-changing money,” he said. “And once I’m victorious, it’s going to be like hitting the Super Lotto.” Rolls said.

Saturday’s 12 rounder bout is being promoted by GGG Promotions – Gennady Golovkin, GGG Promotions – Tom Loeffler with Charles Bosecker as the matchmaker.
