The Ghana Black Bombers team skipper and general captain to the Ghana contingent at the Tokyo Olympics, Sulemanu Tetteh delivers on his promise to Ghanaians and his team in the ring.

After the three Ghanaian boxers drew bye in the preliminary stages, Cap. Suleimanu Tetteh was set for the first act for Ghana against his Dominican opponent Rodrigo Marte in the Men’s fly 48-52kg.

Sulemanu Tetteh came back strong after the opening to record the first win for Ghana in a rather calculated and tactical fashion.

With some of the passionate Ghanaians shouting from the stands saying, “benk3 m) l3, et) l3, ma emusumi. Kaayas33, yii l3 ni w) ya”. A Ghanaian local dilet meaning stay closer to him, he is tired, work on his stomach, don’t move back, punch him and let’s go.

After the end of proceedings, Captain Sulemanu Tetteh was adjudged winner by 3points to 2 as he went down on his knees in celebration.

Supporters from home have shared their excitement and continue to wish team Ghana the best as Tetteh rallies to the round of 16.
